albums, albums, fabulous albums
I’m loving doing albums lately. They’re so fun. I just wanted to show a few finished albums on the blog. We can create an album of a family session, a newborn session, your engagement, or anything you’d like.
The albums consist of 20 sides and are either 8×8 or 10×10. They have a hard bound custom cover. The pages are hinged and lay flat. The pages are nice and thick, not thin like your average book or magazine. They are great keepsakes.
Currently, my favorite album is the First Year Album. It is a 10×10 album. It’s a collection of favorites from your child’s first year of life. If you’ve used Derksen Photography for your newborn through approximately your child’s first birthday then we can put your favorites together in a deluxe keepsake album. Look at this one shown below.
This album below is a session album (from one photo shoot). It is an 8×8 album with 20 sides. Here are just a couple of pages from the book to give you an idea…
manual settings workshop
This past Saturday I had one of my little workshops where I had the opportunity to teach some lovely ladies how to use the manual settings on their cameras. It was so fun. We had such a fabulous group. We spent lots and lots of time with our cameras, lots of time clicking and turning all the buttons on them and learning how to use them all and what they all mean. We even did two mini photo shoots. And on those little shoots we had some super fabulous models. Here are some of the pictures from my camera of our little models. Love them. Thank you girls and mamas. And thank you SO much to each of the ladies who stepped out and took a risk to learn their camera. Your pictures are gonna be awesome!! Keep practicing!
Here are some pics of our older outdoor models…
And our younger little miss…
By the way… there will be more of these workshops opening up. I am enjoying them and finding that my clients/friends are enjoying them as well. New dates coming super soon (July & August) to be announced on my bruises and bandaids blog or you can sign up here. Yay!
woot! woot!
How should you display all these beautiful photographs? You know, those precious pieces of art that we’ve created together. I may have been the photographer but you added your smiles, your sweet kids, your personality, your beautiful coordinating clothing choices and now…………………………you don’t know what to order or how to hang them.
I’m here to help. Yay! There’s a new gallery to assist each of you in the “info” section of my blog. This is designed to help you order, plan, and visualize hanging your artwork in your home. Yes…your artwork! That’s what these photographs are….artwork of some of your most favorite people. Now, the only thing left to do is to display it beautifully in your home.
Check out my new galleries. Below are a few samples, but click here to see the full gallery.
new website launch
Yay! After working hard on my new updated website….it is up and running!!
This update includes an easier way to order your Christmas cards and your baby announcements.
And I’ve also been working on a cleaner, easier, client gallery and ordering system.
Click here to check out the updated website and then let me know what you think. Leave a comment! :) I’m sure I will continue to tweak it into perfection. But it sure feels good to have the majority of it online. I created this as a custom site through showitfast.com. They are a fantastic company. Highly recommended.
canvases, beautiful canvases
I LOVE canvases. Really, I do. They’re gorgeous. They’re a piece of art. But they’re a piece of art showcasing someone that you love. That’s the best. Canvases are ready to hang and do not require a frame. So, make sure and take that into account when you’re debating the choice between a print and a frame or just a canvas.
branching out…
So, yesterday I branched out and taught some lovely people how to use their cameras using manual functions rather than auto. I did my own little workshop. I hadn’t done this much before but I have always appreciated all of the other photographers that have poured knowledge into me and have helped me learn my camera and much much more. So, after I had some different clients and friends asking me to do a workshop, I decided to give it a shot….and….we had a BLAST! I found that I loved it. How fun to be able to teach something that I’m passionate about to other people! So, they learned how to use their fancy DSLR cameras off of that auto mode. We shot manual all day and learned a bunch together. Here are a few pictures of our sweet little models. Thank you Ella, Madi, and Emi! You were all so so sweet.
new backdrops
I have four new backdrops… I’m looking forward to playing around with them with your little ones, your bellies, etc. I usually take most of my pictures outside or with real simple backgrounds for newborns. But why not spice things up a bit! Here are two of my new ones. Look for other ones as I will post them from time to time on my blog.
